The primary purpose of our event was to close the investment knowledge gap by developing a strategy to address long-standing gaps in research and evidence on the cost-effectiveness of early intervention in adolescent and young adult health.
Event summary
This targeted research and policy symposium brought together the brightest minds working in, impacted by or influencing youth health research and investment starting with an online Research Showcase to answer the question: How can we build an economic case for investment in adolescent health in Australia?
The event will include:
Counting the Costs Research Showcase
- Panel 1: Health economic frameworks
- Summary overview of health economic frameworks and evidence needed for investment in youth health and wellbeing in Australia.
- Panel 2: Snapshot of the current evidence
- Outline the current evidence and gaps in adolescent and young adult health risk behaviours, non-communicable diseases (NCDs) and injury, which together account for more than two-thirds of the overall adult burden of disease and associated personal and economic costs to the NSW and the Australian community.
